When you pledge on your honor, you are making a promise.
Strive to do your best. Not someone else’s best, but what is expected of you.
Sometimes you will exceed your expectations and the expectations of others.
Sometimes you will fall short. Celebrate the successes, and learn from the mistakes.
Duty is not only what others expect of you but, even as important, what you expect of yourself.
Your spiritual growth and learning should not just be intellectual but also put into practice –
for you, your family, your community, and the world.
Make the most of opportunities to serve others to help create a more just, fair, and equitable society.
The Scout Law is a framework of values and character traits
to help us make moral and ethical decisions.
Include each attribute of the Scout Law in your daily life, and reflect on it when faced with challenges.
Show kindness and compassion, especially when no one else will.
By helping others, you serve as a model example and contribute towards a better world.
Even the smallest acts of service to someone can be just as impactful, if not more, than larger acts.
Taking care of your body enables you for a lifetime of great adventures.
It also enables you to be of service to others.
Every person is built differently, with different capabilities and restrictions.
Strive to be your best physical self.
Be curious about everything around you, and never stop learning.
Be open to new ideas and ways of thinking,
and measure what you learn against what you already know.
With an inquiring attitude and willingness to ask questions,
you can learn much about the world around you and your role in it.
Remember that your mental health is as important as your physical health.
Don’t be embarrassed or afraid to ask for help.
Sometimes, knowing right from wrong is clear.
Other times, the right decision or path is less clear.
Look to the Scout Law and your own moral, ethical, and religious tenets
for guidance on your life journey.
Act with respect and fairness.
Show self-discipline and restraint, even in the face of adversity.
And as always, do your best.
